Standards
The Sovereign Press publishes works of reference and argument on the law, economy and public life of the Caribbean. Each is produced to the standards set out here, which the Press applies to every title it releases.
Sources. A work of reference cites its authorities so that a reader can go to them. For each title that carries a Table of Cases, the Press publishes a Verification Register recording which authorities have been checked against the primary judgment, when, and against which source, and updates it with each errata cycle.
Release. No title leaves the Press until it has passed the Press’s release certificate: twelve checks covering the authority of the text, its build from a clean and recorded source, the conformance of the print master, the imprint, the commercial instruments that accompany it, and the errata register. A licensed digital edition is issued with a Certificate of Release stating the checks passed and the hash of the master file from which the licensee’s copy was made.
Editions and identifiers. Every edition carries its own ISBN from the Press’s CARICOM block and states, on its imprint leaf, the edition, the version and the date at which the law or the facts are stated. The Press observes legal deposit: a copy of each print edition is to be lodged with the National Library of Guyana once printed copies are in hand.
Corrections. Corrections identified after publication are recorded on the errata register on this site, dated and tied to the version they concern. Corrected printings of a digital edition are supplied to every live seat without charge.
Licensing. Digital editions are licensed by named seat. Each copy carries its Seat Holder’s name on every page and is recorded in the Press’s seat register. The terms of the licence travel with the quotation, so that acceptance is informed.
Setting. Titles are set in EB Garamond. Print masters are delivered as PDF/X-1a; reading editions are searchable and bookmarked.
The use of artificial intelligence. The Press is a member imprint of The Forrester Group (Guyana), Inc. and operates under The Forrester Group AI Charter. Under it, authorial authority rests with the named author; no tool is the sole verifier of any material fact; the Press does not label individual works by whether a tool was used in their making, and gives a plain answer whenever a reader asks.
